The community at BeeHive Homes of Rowlett

Twenty-two suites, not two hundred

Most memory care is a secured floor inside a large building. This is a single home on a residential street with 22 private suites, arranged around one open living and dining space.

The same faces every day

A small home means a small team. Residents see the people who know them, not a rotation across floors and shifts.

Clinical judgment in the family

BeeHive Homes of Rowlett is owned and run by a physician and a pharmacist. Medication questions get answered by people who have spent careers on them.

A model with 33 years behind it

The BeeHive Homes residential care model has been refined across more than 200 communities nationwide since the early 1990s.

Care that stays with you as needs change

The fear families bring to every tour is the same one. What happens when Mom needs more help than this place can give? Being asked to move a person with dementia a second time is its own kind of harm.

Early memory loss

Cues and reminders, help with medication, and a daily rhythm that keeps someone oriented and busy.

Middle stages

Hands-on help with bathing, dressing and eating. A secure home means wandering is met with redirection, not restriction.

Advanced and high acuity

Texas Type B licensure covers residents who need staff assistance to evacuate and overnight attendance. Most residents are able to stay as needs increase.

A small home compared with a large community

Both can be good. They are not the same product, and the difference is worth understanding before you tour either one.

What families say

We were met at the door by Sailu. A big hug and a sweet smile. The story was told, the tour was given. It was different. No pressure. As soon as we got in the car, my daughter said "This is my favorite. This feels good."

Wonderful facility with staff that truly cares for the residents. It is a clean and warm environment with personalized attention provided. I go to many facilities in the metroplex and Beehive is exceptional.

Questions families ask

If yours is not here, call and ask. Someone will pick up.

How is memory care different from assisted living?

Assisted living helps with daily tasks. Memory care does that too, but adds a secure environment, staff trained in dementia behaviors, and a daily structure built around cognitive change. BeeHive Homes of Rowlett is licensed as a Texas Type B assisted living facility and carries an Alzheimer's certification, and every room here is used for memory care.

Is there anything the $6,500 does not cover?

The monthly rate is all inclusive for care, meals, housekeeping, laundry, medication management and activities. Personal items, outside medical services and prescription costs are billed separately, as they would be at home. Ask on the call and you will get a direct answer.

Is the home secure?

Yes. It is a locked home with staff awake around the clock, and secure outdoor space so residents can be outside safely rather than being kept indoors.

What happens if my parent's needs increase?

Type B licensure covers residents who need staff assistance to evacuate and who require overnight attendance, so most residents are able to remain as their needs advance. Call and describe the situation honestly and you will get a straight answer about whether this is the right fit.

How big is the home?

Twenty-two private suites, each with its own 3/4 bath. That is the whole community. It is one building on a residential street rather than a campus, which is what makes it possible for the same small team to know every resident.

Do you take Medicaid?

No. BeeHive Homes of Rowlett is private pay. Long term care insurance and VA benefits can often be applied toward the monthly rate.

Can we visit before deciding?

Yes, and you should. Tours are available seven days a week and there is no pressure to decide on the spot. Families are welcome any time once a loved one has moved in.

Where exactly are you?

8315 Chiesa Road in Rowlett, just south of Liberty Grove Road near Lake Ray Hubbard. It is a short drive from Rockwall, Garland, Wylie and Sachse.
